About Tonya

Tonya loves Arizona!  Having lived in Arizona for 40+ years, she knows how Arizona has changed and grown.  Tonya graduated from Camelback High, and then obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona.  Returning to Phoenix, she married Doug, a Phoenix Firefighter/Paramedic, and moved into their desert refuge in Cave Creek.  Tonya and Doug raised two beautiful children—Hannah and Jacob—in their wonderful neighborhood.  Their children attended Desert Sun Elementary CCSD, Foothills Academy charter school, Phoenix Union High School District’s BioScience High School, ASU, Evergreen College, and PVCC-- Now they are grown and having their own adventures!

Tonya is proud of her service to the mental health community.  As the current Chairman of the Advisory Board for CHEEERS, she knows the challenges facing 501(c)(3) organizations and agencies funded by Governor Ducey’s budget.  More importantly, Tonya knows the amazing changes that evidence based mental health programs can and do make in the lives of persons living with mental Illness.  For a period of time, Tonya was the only Arizonan contracted by the Department of Health Services to provide advocacy services to those designated as Seriously Mentally Ill.  Her time as an independently contracted abuse and mortality investigator for ADHS Division of Behavioral Health Services inspired her to enroll—and graduate—from Arizona State University, Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in 2005.

Now Tonya is a shareholder, “partner,” at the law firm of Burch & Cracchiolo, a leader in the legal community for 45 years.   Her practice is focused on Family Law.  Not only does she handle divorces and parenting time modifications, but she also handles premarital and postmarital agreements, and adoptions.  Before dedicating her practice to Family Law, Tonya represented individuals and businesses in a variety of civil suits—including a large number of construction contractors.  Tonya reads Arizona’s laws almost every day, and knows the practical impact of the Legislature’s work.

Tonya also finds time to slow down and relax.  She enjoys the peace she finds at Christ The Lord Lutheran Church in Carefree.  She also enjoys caring for her enormous fresh water fish tank, playing with the family dog, and doing Origami.  And everyone loves it when she bakes a cake!
